I'm currently working out an optimal set of settings to get this thing running at an average of 40-45 FPS with eye candy and thought I could get some ideas here of where to go. Could we have those users with the game post their settings and driver versions and what performance you're able to land?
Thanks!
edit: And what specific settings dictate the nature of the explosions? I'd be satisfied maxing those out while keeping the other things at "Mainstream."
edit2: forgot to mention the game is being run in dx9 mode

Heh. I'm nowhere near that. Granted I'm on stock drivers (the latest from Dell) running it at Mainstream 1440x900 and getting 20-25fps with slowdown to 11fps during cutscenes. Please, share your settings, so we can dial it in.

At current, I'm getting 35-40 average with these settings. Later snow levels become a bit more choppy with drops into the 15s:
- Resolution: 1280x800
- Textures: Mainstream
- Objects: Mainstream
- Shadows: Minimum
- Physics: Gamer
- Volumetric Effects Quality: Mainstream
- Game Effects Quality: Mainstream
- Postprocessing Quality: Mainstream
- Particles Quality: Gamer
- Water Quality: Mainstream
- Sound Quality: Mainstream
- Motion Blur: Off -
Nice. I'll try those once I get off work, and see what it does. BTW, what drivers are you on?

Driver Name: nvd3dum,nvd3dumx.dll,nvwgf2um, nvwgf2umx.dll
Driver Version: 7.15.0011.5669 (English)
DDI Version: 10

WHQL Logo'd: n/a
WHQL Date Stamp: n/a
I'm downloading the 177.98 ForceWare now, gonna see if it makes a difference. -

from what i can "see" performance definitely looks smoother, vehicle sequences are usually in the mid-20s to low-30s now, whereas on foot it's easily that + 10 to 15 fps. physics tweaked to gamer setting as well. I'm surprised I got what I did on a nearly year old driver.
-
so would 177.98 be the best for gaming, if so where can I get that?
-
again, it's made warhead a little bit smoother. outside of gaming, flip3d feels more responsive than before.

it has some terrible reviews at laptopvideo2go, users beware... i'm sticking with 175.97 for now...

I got crysis warhead and played it on 1200x720 (or whatever the lowest widescreen Res is) and it runs "ok". Didn't know what to type into the console to view the FPS. It was playable but not as smooth as PS3 and 360 games are.
I had all the settings to Mainstream apart from the physics which i set to Gamer.
I was playing it windowed because I was just quickly trying it out and didn't tick the box for full screen. When running windowed though I don't think it disables Windows Aero so that may have been sapping some RAM and lowered my performance. I'll have to try it in full screen and also if somebody could post here how to show fps, just need to know what to type in console.
I am using the latest Dell drivers. Not sure these are the best for games tbh.
I don't like playing crysis coz it makes my shiney posh XPS look like a weakling hahaha. -

I didn't play the first Crysis but this seems to be quite a run and gun game as the enemies tend to spot you after you have taken 1 or 2 of them out even when using a silenced rifle. Pretty good game so far though, I am getting about 25-30 fps mostly and all my settings are on Mainstream except shadows which are minimum and im playing at the lowest widescreen resolution that there is. I tried turning down particle effects and post processing to minimal but it didnt raise framerate so i put them back.
Pretty good game so far, also tried the demo of company of heroes and it ran well on my XPS. It seems quite good for games so far but it needs to be about 2yrs old (ish) to play with the settings to high. Is this right? I have the latest Dell drivers, only tried a few games so far. -
Complete BS, unless you're running shaders at minimum. -
*cough*
i play on everything on gamer except objects and shadows (both mainstream) , with added system.cfg commands (cant live without sunshafts and FFT)
1280x800(native unfortunately) - 21 - 25 fps (avg 22)
1280x720 - 24 -27 fps (avg 25)
1120x700 - 27-32 fps (avg 29)
1024x640 - 34-42 fps (avg 33)
using 186.03 drivers
OC: 650/1350/900
fps drops by around 5 with objects and shadows on gamer too
