    Hey everyone,

I'm trying to use a 8GB SDHC card on my M1530, the card is "detected" after a little while of being connected. It won't read the size nor the format but it'll say that it does need formatting. I can connect the card to my Toshiba laptop and it'll read just fine and even format properly.

I'm using Vista Ultimate / Windows 7 RC1 (doesn't work on both). I tried to download the XP hotfix but that won't install.

    I'd really appreciate some help!

No one knows of any solution? I know there's an XP fix for this so that means it can read SDHC cards. There has to be a fix or something I can do for the other OSes.

There's a fix for Vista x64 and SDHC cards.. I tried it out and it wasnt required for me (when I tried to run it, it said not required or something).. but the problem description kind of sounds like what you're describing

Thanks for the link but it's also telling me that it's not required. Are you current drivers allowing you to access SDHC cards? if so which versions do you have installed?

    Thanks for the reply.

I just checked on my wife's M1530 and when I popped in the SDHC card it was able to read, no problems. I'm checking in the device manager and here's what I see under IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers:

    Ricoh Memory Stick Controller (v6.0.1.11)
    Ricoh SD/MMC Host Controller (v6.0.2.5)
Ricoh xD Picture Card Controller (v6.0.1.12)

Under SD host adapters there's only SDA Standard Compliant Host Adapter (standard driver that installed with Vista, I believe.. v6.0.6001.18000)

The Vista install was what came with the M1530, I dont even think I updated the card reader drivers (looks like I only updated the Bluetooth and Fingerprint drivers). When she first got it, I just cleaned it up and did all the Microsoft updates.

I just checked on my SXPS 1640 and the driver is Ricoh SD/MMC Host Controller (v6.0.3.5).

Do regular SD cards even work in you card reader? Sounds like a hardware issue.. I've had card readers that act like that.

Let me know if you need me to check anything else.

Regular SD's up to 2GB, Memory stick Pro Duo's with the adaptors up to 16GB work as well those are the only sticks I have. My 8GB SDHC will show up but it asks to format and when I do the capacity is 512kb and it's unable to format.

Would it be possible at all for you to rip your drivers so I could test them on mine? If it's not too much trouble.

    Thanks

The card displays properly on 5 different machines and even cameras I've tested on. Before I updated the Richoh drivers it told me that the card size was unknown and it couldn't format and it was lagging to mount in windows. Now it mounts alright but it can't be used telling me to format and whatnot and shows a 512kb size.

I'll do this when I get home tonight (probably be late tho)

What kind of SDHC card is it? There is such a thing as incompatibilities with readers and flash memory, depending on the brand of NAND used in the flash memory.

It's actually 2 8GB cards now, my first one was a CoreMicro 8GB SDHC, second is a Sandisk 8GB SDHC.

I'd really appreciate if you could do that for me.

    Thanks
