Firstly, i am aware that there have been threads of similar content.
I read these threads and did what i thought were the relevant driver updates when i was still using Vista, and still sp1 would not appear in Windows Update.

I recently switched to XP, and it runs fine, but for all practical purposes, not any faster than vista, i get the idea that with a T9300 and 4 gigs of Ram, XP/Vista both tend to run at similar speeds.

Anyway, going to go back to Vista, for comparison's sake, but i want Sp1. NOw i noticed that Dell is now shipping m1530's with Vista Sp1 - does this then imply that the previous driver conflicts have been sorted out by microsoft? I checked the dell website and ther have been no new audio or fingerprint drivers released, so i can only assume that since dell is shipping the M1530 with sp1 that the conflicts have been resolved?

I have a standalone Sp1 installer, but i dont know whether i should install it or not after a fresh install of vista.

Im a little confused on this one. Any input?

    Thanks!

What specific drivers do you believe will pose a problem? I'm running Vista x64 UE on my 1530, and it appears that all the hardware works fine.

I believe that Microsoft was offering necessary pre-SP1 driver updates via Windows Update. Just install the Dell drivers, then run WU and install any updated drivers from Microsoft. Then you should be good for SP1.

This is a generic suggestion. I'm not aware of any specific M1530 Dell drivers that aren't SP1 compatible, but if there are any the this method will safely update them.
