Hi guys,
I just found your forum and I hope I find a good hint here for my problem I have.
I just put Windows XP Prof on my M1530 and killed Vista. Usually I use a 22' LCD Monitor from Acer. Under Vista no problem but under XP its a horror. My video card the Nvidia 8600M GT works fine and my Samsung display in the laptop also works without any problems on 1680x1050 but with the HDMI output its crap. On Vista I first experienced that I have to buy a HDMI to DVI cable to get a better quality because I saw some strange things on the external LCD. After I bought the cable and plugged it in it was working fine.
I installed XP Prof and the trouble started. The highest resolution is 1440x900. Everything above doesnt work. When I try to clone the Display resolution (which was NEVER a problem under vista because the external and the internal screen have the same resolution) it ended up in a mess. Just a windows background on my external one and a strange resolution when I opened the LCD menue on the monitor. When I moved the mouse far enough I can see the mouse but nothing else. I havent changed anyhting! exept Windows. I know that Nvidia offers the option to use 2 displays at once to extend my workplace or something like that but I have not changed anything and even when I click the "clone displays" option it still shows me the same.
So whats the problem with that ? I dont get the point because under Vista I didnt even installed the correct monitor driver and it worked. At XP I can do everything but nothing works.
At the moment i run a 4:3 screen on 1280x1024 without any problems but thats bull**** because my video card COULD do more but something just cant deliver it to the monitor.
Yes the driver from the acer support page was installed. Model is Acer AL2216W.
Tested XP Nvidia driver : 177.79 | 178.13 (downloaded from laptopvideo2go)
Can you guys help me ? Would be great.
