First, I installed Vista and its fingerprint reader software. Finger swiping was all good for Vista. Then I installed XP and its fingerprint reader software. Finger swiping was all good for XP. Then I tried logging back into Vista. It prompt me to enter my backup password. Such was the case each time I logged into Vista (XP functioned normally). That sort of defeat the purpose of the fingerprint reader, I thought, so I uninstalled/reinstalled the fingerprint reader software for Vista. No more backup password prompt for Vista (works normally)... and of course logging into XP now prompts for the backup password instead.

    Has anybody else experienced this?

How do I fix this? I assume removing the backup password option should do the trick but are there any other solutions?

You must have stored the fingerprints on the device, right? In that case, only one OS can use the device. The workaround to this is to choose to store the fingerprints on the hard disk, on each OS.
