Tonight, I was watching a TV show in my bed and when I watch things my hands get bored and usually end up playing with the remote in the express card slot, just ejecting it, mess around with the remote, then put it back. However, I discovered something unusual tonight, the remote won't pop out. As far as I can remember it was fine when I put it back last time, and now all of a sudden it doesn't pop out? I can still get it out and I don't use the slot for anything, but I just don't like the fact that something is broken on my computer that shouldn't be. Has anyone else had this problem? Can I fix it myself or do I need Dell to come and fix it?

Try pressing firmly on the *center*..hold and release....see if that helps.

You can have Dell fix, if you have onsite...but it should be able to come out..sometimes it can get *fussy*.. ;)

The spring inside has either fallen out.. or is broken.. Easy to repair, in case you have experience taking your computer apart.. Otherwise just give dell a call.. Should be a cheap enough replacement, even if it's out of warranty..

Even if you don't get it repaired, you can always pull out the remote.. just use your nails or something flat.. It isn't locked in by anything other than friction...

well, to get to the expresscard compartment, you have to open the entire laptop up... not really an 'easy' repair IMO

If he can't find an easy fix, and has On-Site..he should call Dell and have a Technician repair vs. the chances of further damage. ;)

    Easy, but time consuming....
