    Hi everyone.

    I've had my Dell XPS M1530 for over a year now and it has been working fine ever since. I've had my laptop hibernated for about a few days now and I haven't really used it until I tried to start it up today to no avail. On pressing the power button, media button lights whirl through, power light comes on and fan comes on but my screen remains absolutely blank.

    I've tried restarting and removing the battery.. Not sure what else to try..

    Any assistance with this issue will be appreciated..
    Thanks...

    Sounds like a graphics card issue. Is the hard drive activity light still flickering?

    From what I recall we have an extra year warranty on the vid card given all the problems we have had....so you should be covered if that's the problem...fwiw mine has been ok ...so far after almost 2 yrs..luck of the draw I guess....

    If dell wont fix it (they should), but if they don't, then you might want to think about this:
    width='560' height="340"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/NJlgPbELL0E&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/NJlgPbELL0E&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width='560' height="340"></embed></object>

    @Mickbt26 - EDIT solid power light and hard drive light initially then after a second the hard drive light goes and only the solid power light remains

    how can I confirm that this is a graphics card failure though? I haven't really been doing any gaming in recent time and I haven't experienced any other issues with my laptop otherwise...

    I performed the FN - Power Key diagnostic test and it resulted in:
    flashing light, solid light, solid light

    have you taken the battery out? might sound odd, but i noticed my wife had shuts hers off the other night but the fan was still going,opened it up tried to turn it on nothing happened, put the power adapter in, fan went off but it still wouldnt turn on, took the power adapter out fan came back on :) took the battery out, put battery back in, worked fine.

    Yes I have. That was one of the first things I did to no avail.

    The video looks like what happened to my HP tx1000z which also used the nVidia chip. Lasted over a couple of years. Hope my 1530 doesn't do the same. All lights were on even the HDD but no video.

    I have a number of suspicions.. I'm not thinking its video because I haven't experienced any of the video related issues before this problem, but I am thinking as to whether it could be an issue with processor, mainboard or RAM.. Has anyone experienced similar issues?
