    hey guys

My m1530 battery life is very poor, im only getting around 40mins unplugged, Im not running power-sucking tasks either, i just use internet and msn messenger when im unplugged. I switched to the power-saving plan and its not really making any difference. Its so annoying now does anyone know what could potentially be the problem?

Could be the battery. What does the wear level show for your battery when you use hwinfo32?

    That is extremely bad.. lol

It mean your battery can only hold 13.8% of what it was designed to hold. Which is why you're getting extremely poor performance from your battery.

Just order a new battery and you should be as good as new. Either use Dell or Amazon if you're comfortable with that.

    Wow,, that's assault and battery!

I know, that really sucked. But I lost about 5% capacity from running my battery out to like 3 minutes of power left 1 single time :/

A battery should maintain a useful charge (greater than 1hr) or normal useage for about 2-3years. If you have already replaced your battery in the last 2years then that is not good.

If you use your laptop at home regularly then try not to always use it plugged into the mains as the battery needs to be used regularly to keep it in top form. Try not to part charge the battery that many times....i.e. wait until you get the second battery warning before pluging in the mains adapter and then do not remove the power until the battery is fully charged. When you have bought your new battery, if you prefer to use your laptop on mains, then put in the older battery before doing so, so that you don't wear out the new one.
