When I close/open the screen it sometimes powers off.
It isn't the windows setting because it happens even when windows has not even booted yet.
When it shuts off, the computer instantly loses power, like if the battery and the ac adapter were both out.

Anyone have any clue what is wrong with it?

    Thanks.

I havent faced this problem, but I think the windows setting applies even when the system has not booted up completely. Like, my settings were for sleep when the lid is closed. Have you selected the "Do Nothing" settings in the "more power options" (when you click the battery icon which opens a window)

Go to the control panel/power options/"choose what closing the lid does"
It sounds like it shuts down. Change to sleep, etc.
