    hi there

my xps m1530 is running exceptionally hot, esp when compared to other laptops.

i ran hwmonitor when the laptop is idle, and these are the results:

    thm 92-97C

    core#0 95-97C
    core#1 90-94C

    gpu 90-97C

    hdd 49-53C

could someone please help interpret these temperatures? its not even warm today in ireland (10C)

    cheers

Those are extremely high temperatures... check the temps again using another program to make sure they are real. I have difficulty believing those numbers. If they are correct, turn off the laptop and use a vacuum cleaner and a can of compressed air to clear out any dust. When you turn it back on, check the BIOS to see if you can run the CPU at a lower clock speed so that you can run the computer safely. On boot up, check your power saver settings. If the computer continues running like this, I suggest you return it. One hundred degrees is the maximum temp the GPU can take, and its only idling. Thats ridiculous.

My interpretation: that computer is screwed. Time to return it.

Not to put lemon on a cut, but those are meltdown temperatures. Like BOG said, try to find a few other programs to test temps before panicking. I couldn't get those kind of temperatures even on my M1330 running graphic intensive games and its 110+ F ( 45 C ) here in Vegas.

Try restarting it. M1530s have been known to have their fans inexplicably shut down after entering and leaving sleep mode.
