Don't worry, I am not bringing up the war here =)

My question is simpler to answer. I am worried by the 8600M GT in the M1530. Are the ones being sold in Dell Outlet UK still destined to fail?

Reliability and power whilst not looking ugly...

And multi-touch on the MBP I just can't live without now. But for £500...

It might fail, but there is this thing called a warranty, and Dell is giving the affected hardware a one-year limited service extension that covers failure of the graphics card.

If you get a three or four year warranty, you should be fine regardless.

Oh, and an elevated failure rate doesn't mean too much when we have no details on how often they fail compared to other chips. I'd say go for the XPS if it means that you'll save a huge amount of money. Just get a decent warranty, and your will be covered.
