I would like a fix that uses both my head phone jacks as they were meant to work!

So was there ever an official fix for this where we can use both headphone jacks as the computer was designed and Stereo Mix?

I wouldn't hold my breath on a Dell provided 'fix' for this. It seems that as they progress to newer systems, the older systems seem to be left drying up in the wind in terms of driver releases/updates.

If you note in the Dell blog comments, there was an individual who cited that stereo mix could in fact be enabled via the driver for the XPS M1730 under Vista. The person even included how it was done. Result: No response from Dell.

    *sigh*
