    So my M1530 hits 80-90C when I'm playing CS:source...

It gave me a quick bluescreen + reboot earlier, I'm assuming cause of the heat.

Any idea what I should do to fix this?

    I have it sitting on a Lapcool2

    here:

use this to open it up and clean out the dust-bunnies and see if everything lines up.

    xps m1530 disassembly

go and open it up, do this, but keep the CPU and GPU and heatsinks in. Shoot some compressed air in from 8 inches or so away to force out the dust-bunnies. Shoot a bit in small poots through the fan, and reassemble the same way you disassembled... should run cooler. If not, then you may need to reapply some thermal compound, which is a bit more detailed.

    Try the link first :)

It won't void my warranty if I take it apart? cause that was my original Idea.

I work in a place that cleans computers that have been damaged by smoke from fires, I was just going to use the pressure washer and oven, but I'm afraid my warranty will be void if I take it apart.

    COMPRESSED AIR
. No water, no oven. Just unscrew the bottom and the keyboard off per the instructions provided and use compressed air. Water and heat will irreversibly do damage, and then you WILL have a voided warranty. (Dell has a forensic team for damage cases, they can tell if you watered or heated it.)

I don't really feel like having W7 for 2 months and then switching back to XP... I'm definitely not buying it..

It wouldn't really damage anything if I washed it, but I guess if dell used a forensic team they would definitely know about it and probably not approve.

    Hey,

If you have all this going on..don't try to much *home remedying*...if you still have your warranty..just call Dell and have them take care of it via warranty! After all, that is what you paid for! ;)

My 1530 just majorly overheated last week. They sent the OnSite Technician and he replaced my AC, Motherboard, Heatsink Assembly, Fan/Pad, etc. What GPU do you have? I have the 8600 ..and I think it was finally starting to show some of it's faults.. :( I opened the back up, and cleaned and blasted the fan, etc. with compressed air, it helped a bit..but the problem was continual...Then it just stopped running.....*fade to black*

And, so far things are running much better...The temps are much better and I no longer have a burnt leg!

    Cin..

I also have the 8600, but judgnig by how everyone was so quick to say "tear it apart and clean it" I figured Dell wouldn't do much to fix it.

I think I'll let them waste their time and money instead of me.
