Depends on what you want it to do, newest games - generally the latest driver is best as regards performance, personally I'm running 178.13 - (laptopvideo2go) bty dells as far as I've tested seem to give worse performance.
-
Vista usually will find the latest driver updates except for BIOS's
-
Your best bet for latest video drivers would be to check either nVidia's site or Dell XPS M1530 Drivers thread.

laptop2go drivers you have to pay for? must buy the driveragent?

Yes laptopvideo2go is a great place to find drivers for your card... Else just take the latest from Dell, in the link below. This is v176.44 from Dell, released last month. Also you can find the 175.97, which was a pretty good driver and quiet popular with many people. Cheers.

DUH..! I kept clicking the "Click Here to Check and Download for the latest nVIDIA ForceWare X 18x Driver" instead of "drivers" thats why, that was stupid lol , gonna take your word for it and install the 175.97. Gonna play my fallout 3 on pc instead of ps3, hope it'll stop crashing. But thx for the help!

Tried those dell drivers in the sig, benchmarked, the best I got was 500
3dmarks less than the ones I tested from laptopvideo2go, I know they're desktop drivers but if they perform better, why would you use the others? -
I have been using Dell' drivers exclusively, and I have no performance issues at all. I haven't benchmarked it, but for sure, have subjected it to extensive gaming, and GPU stress tests, and its been flawless. So why would one want to go with a modded driver? (and I know I am not the only one with these drivers, there are many many more who are with these driver' released exclusively from Dell, for the system and video card!!!!)
I guess, its a personal and demand-based choice I guess.. Though everything should be working just as well too. -

Oh nope, I didn't mean that the dell ones didn't work or that they had any issues, I meant that I seem to get better performance on modded ones.
-
nVidia web site will refer you back to the original manufacturer for the latest updates for their drivers.
-
Actually nvidia driver from nvidia website won't work on your GeforceM 8600GT ^^! You will need a modded one from laptopvideo2go
-
I find the Dell ones to be crappy. Not all laptopvideo2go drivers are good either. Right now, the best one I tested is 178.24. I do a number of tests myself, I'm not only interested in the 3dmark score. I also measure temperature, subsystem responsiveness, and stability. I like the new DOX drivers available as well but I find they run too hot on the 8600m GT. 178.24 is really good right now IMO.
-
I had quite a few problems with modded drivers from laptopvideo2go. In particular, driver from there would freeze all Remote Desktop connections. Reverting back to Dell driver solved the problem.

well for fallout 3 I tried 175.97 still a bit laggy running the lowest resolution 800x600 with med setting and no screen effects no AA & AF, but then I uninstall with driverclean then installed the 180.43 from laptop2go I find myself running smooth with 1152x648 with HDR screen effects, still no AA & AF though. but i guess I can call it an improvement.
-
because i have the 180.42 and i havent seen any improvements over the last one i had. -
-
Im using 178.24 and currently the best for Crysis (also other game too) and now waiting for 180 series WHQL driver from Nvidia. 180 Betas have a lot of bugs. -
I run fallout 3 on 176.44, and i get 32FPS average walking straight ahead but whenever i turn i get MASSIVE lag, I run on high at 1280X800 res (no AA or AF)? I get some stuttering in vats, but meh...
is this to be expected, in another forum i was led to believe that M1530's could do better...
OH BTW this is outdoors fallout 3, inside its considerably better...
M1530's 8600m lastest driver?
