Hiya, New to the forum here as I need help with my XPS M1710, and people seem to know their stuff on this site. Recently on my XPS M1710, my 7950GTX graphics card blew. (Black screen) So I looked around to buy a replacement card rather than havin a 1grand+ brick lying about. Done a bit of research and seen that a 1500m Quadro card would work in it (as well as others obv. , but this was the cheapest)So I went ahead and bought it and plopped it in. The card works, but I couldn't get all the resolutions and scrolling windows would be jumpy, so common sense told me that I'd need to get a driver for it installed.Problem is I have tried every driver I can get hold of for the 1500m (even the one for the M90 and various Nvidia multicard drivers) and all end with the same result. The computer/GPU crashs upon booting up just after the windows screen with the loading bar. Been farting about with it now for about a month and no luck. I also read that it is possible to flash the bios of this card to a 7900GS ( Which dell offers driver support for on the M1710.)
If anyone could please help me with either a working driver, or with a guide on how to flash the bios from a 1500m to a 7900GS, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Mike
