    Hello everyone,

Today I reveice my replacement Dell XPS M1730 for my old laptop M1710.

Everything was going well for a moment, the installation went smooth then after 5 minutes of usage, my AC Adaptop died on me.

Anyone had this problem or could explained why this happened ?

While rare it does happen from time to time. As for an explanation it could be a variety of issues that lead to its failure.

Get a replacement. Those suckers are going for 159 bucks at Dell.com. Total rip off.

I love my Dell, but those adapter are a total POS! I have gon through 2 already and looking for a 3rd, this might be a reason not to buy another Dell because of these lam power adapters. I took one apart thinking there was a fuse I could change, not a chance. I hate these POS power adapters!

It depends, yours just might have some issues with the power. They might just die because of a bad power connection in your house.

They don`t just die because they`re crap, most of the 1730 users have not had problems with them.

Sorry forgot to mention, I did call Dell Support for new one which will take 2-3 business days.
I've already waited 2 weeks for my replacement laptop and now another few more days for AC Adapter

The AC Adapter from my M1710 was doing fine.
I know the M1730 AC Adapter is bigger than the M1710 but I didn't know it would make that a big difference.

Maybe if I'll get a Outlet Power bar (specific for electronics) that will help.
