i got my M1730 last monday and ever since its been running slow. it crashes now and again. freezes up on me. once when it turned on the laptop the raid config said that drive error occurred.
i'm not happy that i paid over 3000 euros for this laptop and its running poorly.
    it has core 2 duo 2.4GHZ, 8700GT SLI, 2 X 160GB HDD, 2GB ram and so on.
anyone know what i should i do. i was thinking about either getting a replacement or refund.

It is hard to tell what the problem might be, but you may want to look into getting a refund on it and check out the Sager 9261... :)

Are you running RAID by any chance? Go into the recovery console on startup and then choose to re-image the hard disk. Make sure you back up your data first.

chaz, are you talking to me?

if you are, what would re-imaging my hard drive have to do with my SLI?

Linkin_parker, please take my word for it and believe me when I say Im not an idiot. I HAVE SLI ENABLED IN the damn control panel. You guys all claim to have ur SLI working in Vista? Linkin, you have an 1730 correct? I have 167.26 drivers installed, and i have SLI enablwed, and ive been messing with the settings in the control panel like mad and get nothing above 4500 marks in 3dmark06. EVERYONE seems to be getting 8,000+ marks in 3dmark06 but me. WTF is wrong here? I dont think ive switched any major settings that would effect my SLI. Ive been through so many drivers trying to get my SLI to work that I'm starting to believe one of the GPU's on the card is broken. Can one of you guys give me some kind of run down as to what drivers you use, what OS, what your settings are, etc? I really need to solve this problem. I paid for 2 GPU's, not one =(

Uninstall your driver and do a clean install so it resets all the settings..

where do you have 3dmark installed?? make sure its the default install as it won't turn on AFR..

Stevez, I installed 3dmark06 to its default installation path (c drive, etc), and i already have done cleamn installs of drivers. I used driver cleaner pro, ccleaner etc...all gimme the same results.

Also, when i goto the microsoft website to download and install the hotfixes they gave for vista, they all just gimme the answer of "This doesnt apply to your system" when i run them, which is really bothering me =(
