I just got a new M1730 (LOVE IT!!). I cannot figure out how to restore it to like it came from Dell.
The manual mentions hitting CTRL-F11 while it's booting but that doesn't work. I do have a "restore" partition it looks like.
Also, I was prompted to burn some restore discs (I think) earlier but I hit the remind me later button. How do I get to that?
    Thanks for any help.

Didn't you computer come with a vista disc? Why not try using that? Or did you mean restore it so that all the drivers are installed and such?

    F12?

what I do is to delete everything in the hard drive, set up 2 partitions (60GB for OS, rest = working)... then install all the drivers and programs, then clone the OS partition so that the next time, i just have to restore the clone to get all my apps and drivers instead if manually installing them

What I want is to make the hard drive just like when I turned it on for the first time.
Surely someone here has done that and tell me how.

Hit F8 at boot up; select repair your computer; select next (Key Board layout); select next (Log on); choose Dell Factory Image restore.

That will put it back to first boot-up condition
