I had my display replaced a couple weeks ago. never thought to test it before he left. now I wanted to turn it on but it says it can't be found.
how do i find out if its actually connected? no lights flash when the pc boots up. i always thought with vista it would flash a blue light at boot up.
I am running windows 7 64 bit
nothing in device manager tells me its missing or found

Mine is listed as Imaging Device my driver is Creative Tech 1.4.1.1011 should be on the Dell download page.

doesn't detect it, so i am guessing I need a new camera and cable w/ bezel.
not detected at all no imaging devices -
Time to call Dell unless you want to open it up. Its not that hard to verify its connected. Just pop the panel off and remove the keyboard. See this process:

Once the keyboard is disconnected, you should see the cable HERE:Attached Files:

its connected there and inside the bezel and the camera looks connected up top.
but I dont think its getting power. when you boot up you should get a blue flash up by the camera correct?
I noticed the cable had a couple connectors on it and they all looked plugged in -
Give Dell a call then.
Not much more you can do without taking the LCD apart which I would not suggest. Even if you did remove the LCD and pop it open, the webcam itself could be bad. Not worth the effort. Let them fix it. -
when it boots does a blue light flash next to the camera?
-
Yes it does. As Windows loads the device driver, it will light up and then go dark.

You can try re-running the installer:
Vista32/Vista64:
vPRC2.0 A04, Last Updated: 04/28/2009 -
techs coming out when they get the new part. probably fine but I have no way of knowing.
