    Check your network adaptor settings.

If your have the Dell 355 bluetooth and the internet active at the same time they conflict and cause internet slowdown. I have confirmed this fact with the intel 4965 and Dell 355 bluetooth. I have NOT found a solution yet but am still looking.

By network adaptor I mean the adaptor in your notebook. Sounds to me like its an issue with your notebook, not your router/wireless point, since your friend is fine with it.

Interesting point about the bluetooth though. Try disabling the bluetooth module.

For me it was the 355 Bluetooth. Specifically, I installed my bluetooth mouse which worked fine BUT my internet went to heck in a hand basket. Specifically, the internet pages take forever to load and I got intermittent starts and stops from my network. I removed the mouse and the internet started to flow again. I used the doggle to connect the mouse and the internet worked as it should. So for some reason there IS a problem with using the 355 Bluetooth and internet performance. I don't have to turn off the 355 I just can't use it with the mouse.

In sum, if your are using your bluetooth for anything, turn off the device and your problem should go away. Don't know the solution for the problem will see what Dell has come up with.
