    Hey all,

Having a strange problem when I have SLI on and I try to put my M1730 in standby mode... when I open him up again, all the colours show strangely in a sort of negative fashion. Restarting fixes it and it only seems to have started since I updated the drivers.

Running XP and this doesn't seem to happen when they're not SLI.

    Can anyone help?

Could be your video driver. You may want to try another video card driver.

I'm using the official driver from the dell website... I'm afraid I'm not quite technical enough to use the modified ones that some people use.

You dont have to be technical to change your driver. Try this then:

    1. Download NVIDIA's official notebook driver (179.48) from http://www.nvidia.com/object/notebook_drivers.html

    2. Uninstall your current NVIDIA driver via the ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS control panel (your start menu)

    3. Install the NVIDIA driver you downloaded

If you dont feel comfortable with this, report the problem to XPS Tech Support and ask for assistance (provided your 1730 is under warranty). They can assist with troubleshooting - over the phone as well as remote access.

Thanks heaps BatBoy - I didn't think to check the nvidia downloads... was silly enough to think only Dell had the drives (call it a blonde moment).

Seems nvidia's beta drivers have fixed the problem =D no more negative colours.

EDIT: the technical query was where people were using modified nvidia drivers for notebook cards, that was before they released these new drivers

Understood. Nice to hear your issue is now fixed. Even though the 179.48's are marked as beta, I'd still take em over the Dell drivers any day. :)

NVIDIA just started offering mobile drivers. This is their second release. Keep tabs on that page, I'm sure we will see more releases...
