Well I had made up my mind and was going to go with the M1730.. maybe.. heh

So price out my same config as last week the other day on the site and now they are offering a few more vid card options. Thats great and all but now the 9800M GT is a +$600 addon when last week it was the only option. The overall price of my config hasn't gone up $600 but its pretty close as my config is coming up almost 2.9k now with a 3 yr warranty/128gb SSD and the 9800M GT.

Not finding any current discounts/coupons right now either... Getting out of what I want to spend now.

Anyone had much luck working the price down with any reps on the home or business side? If not I guess i'm going back to the drawing board and maybe just getting something cheapy for now. Can't hold out for nice discounts because I have to get something ordered within a week :/

BTW, Picking out a laptop sucks. :)

I'd recommend you not go with 128gb SSD initially. Since they are still not cheap at the moment. Raiding a pair of 7200 rpm hard drive isn't that bad; the chance if you order SSD from Dell is you'd get Samsung ones, while quite consistance in performance, they don't offer enough gains for the premium. Since they are customer replaceable unit, why not go for a pair of large HDD, RAID it, upgrade to SSD in say like 6 month? by then you probably can get a pair of faster 128GB, for the current asking price of one.

Normally the price on the site is a bit higher than say, if you talk nicely to the sales guy over the phone, so if you have decided the spec, why not call them? nothing to lose, especially since you're opting for the 3 year warranty, ask for some discount off it.

you might also want to keep an eye here, helps if deal show up again.
