I just placed an order for the xps m1730.
I have seen several thredas saying that some dells laptop might give electrical statics on the palm rest? ( reminding me of the sony vaio SZ)
Is this still happening? and is the m1730 affected by this problem?

    thx

    Ps

also whats the deal with this Memory parity errors? i saw a lot of threads on dell forums with people experiencing this problems?
On a 4000K laptop i expect not to run into stupid issues like this =/
i saw this thread at blizzard http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=105813107&sid=1
Since i will be playing games on this machine (doh its a gaming laptop=))
I can always cancel this order and go for Sager , AW,even a mac book pro since ill be mostly playing WoW online.

I think the static problems are m1330 and m1530 related only.

You could have just bought a $1k notebook to play WoW on.

And yes, the electrical charge issue was related only to the 1330/1530 series.

there are no electrical issues with the m1730 to my knowledge. I had one and had no issues. I just ordered a new one with the 8800GTX card.....I returned the other one because it had the weak 8700 gt cards :)

It's an issue with brushed Aluminium plam rests - painted ones dont allow contact with bare metal ;)

I was looking into a cheaper laptop , but what i really like about this laptop is the HD screen that comes with it and honestly , i am not ashamed of saying this....i like the looks of it :p
other laptops i considered are the sony vaio VGNAR770CU. I always had good experiences with vaios , but i could not find any reviews on this laptop and i think its to expensive and components to outdated.
I also took into considerationt he mac book pro but i think its to expensive for what it offers.
Lot of people told me im crazy to spend 5000$ on laptop, but i love small things packed with goodys=)
I built my own desktop computers , i have 3 of them now.
One is a high end PC with evga 790i mobo and a 9800 gx2 card, but i still want this laptop , call me crazy ;)
Only thing i hate of this laptop and most other laptops out there , is

    1) gaming laptop running on windows vista ? hmmmmm
    2) the amount of bloatware this dam things ship with

i hope this is not like a vaio pc and will allow me to reformat the hard drives with out installing all the crap that it will come with.
