I've taken apart from 1730 and made sure there was no dust and its quite clean, its sitting up at the back so air is flowing through under it but when playing games all on low settings (playing demigod) it still slows down when a lot is happening on screen, and the laptop gets extremely hot - even some parts are too hot to touch.
its about 18 months old now and all drivers are up to date but I cant play games for longer than about 15-20 mins..
any ideas?

Download HWmoniter and post your temps. Idle and Load.
And whats the GPU in that laptop? -

2. Get a small paper clip and insert it between the fan blades to lock the fan from spinning.
3. give it a nice shot of compressed air - be prepared for a dust cloud
4. Repeat 2 and 3 for each fan
5. repeat step 2 and give a good shot to the exhaust area (to the left and right of the NIC and power cable ports).
Finally, look into updating your driver to the 185.66 or 186.68 series (laptopvideo2go). This driver has much better thermal control - especially when running in SLI mode.
