recently noticed the SLI option isn't available anymore in the Nvidia control panel.
long story short i did my research and found one of the GPUs (i have an 8700M GT SLI card) isn't recognized in device manager. so i cycled thru the install/uninstall process to try and get the other card working. i used driver sweeper as well as jv16 power tools to try and remove all traces.
running the latest nvidia bios as well as the latest mainboard bios. i've tried a few versions of forceware including the latest 195.62, but currently i'm using 167.51.
i have no real display issues other than the one GPU is not there. i've tried my games, Crysis runs well, etc....
i am trying to figure out here if this is faulty hardware or not, before buying another video card. i have a feeling it is not the hardware because when i start ubuntu and run Htop, i see activity for both GPUs.
i am completely lost, i've also tried to do a clean install of vista, but upon loading up the video drivers, i still only see one GPU. i've also tried to install the driver manually on the Uknown PCI device that's listed in device manager.....still no dice (get the exclamation point and error 43).
help please, maybe i've missed something here.....

made a mistake: in ubuntu i only see GPU 0, GPU 1 is missing.....
so i decided to go with the 8800M GTX SLI board.....hopefully my mobo is in good shape. what diagnositics tools are available in ubuntu to let me test out the hardware ?
