Hi all,
I currently have A M1730 with Sli 8800m Gtx and am having gfx card driver problems.
I had 197.15 drivers installed when my system crashed. To cut a long story short, I fully formatted my HDD I have tried installing the newest 197.16 drivers, 188 drivers and the offical 179 drivers from the dell website but everytime I install them my computer freezes after the Windows loading screen and it just goes blank and nothing happens.
In device manger it shows that I have a 3d Video Controller but has no drivers installed.
Has anyone else had this problem? Do you think my Gfx Cards are goosed?
Regards Jim

Update guys,
Been on the phone to dell and they said i need a new gfx card.
Heres my question to you....
Can I just install the Gfx card drivers using the Have disk method on one of my cards so it will still work until I get it fixed?
Regards Jim -
I had been having problems with drivers for my 8700M GT's similar to what you are describing for a long long time and just today I downloaded the 197.16 drivers straight from Nvidia's website, rebooted into SAFEMODE, uninstalled the old drivers, installed the new ones in safemode, rebooted to windows regular and voila.
Btw I have windows 7 32bit installed. -
First you've to get rid of all the older nVidia drivers. Then start in safe mode and use Driver Sweeper to remove all hidden left-overs from nVidia.

In a normal situation you restart and install the new driver, but maybe in your case you could also try to install in safe mode.
I hope you have still warranty, so Dell will repair your rig. Otherwise replacing your GPU will be an expensive joke.
M1730 wont let me install Nvidia Drivers
