Probably a problem with the recovery disc. Is the disc one burned using Dell Datasafe? If so, that program is a piece of junk that fails to work properly most of the time. If it is one of the Dell-supplied OEM Windows discs, then that's another story entirely, it should work fine in that case.

What recovery option out of interest? Also I would guess that the missing GB is for the recovery partition, the fact that it is now formatted and has windows. Also I think it is advanced formatted, so you need to convert it.

Just speaking with my tech mate. He says you should do a vanilla install as it optimises for SSD. Plus you won't have the recovery partition eating up space. Oh and check in the bios the drive is in AHCI mode.

Not pretty sure what were the options.. I tried to boot again with the DVD but it changed the options.. but Basically there are 2 options ( one of them seems to depend on the recovery partition on your drive tho it doesn't mention that so if you use it, it will fail.. the other option is go straight to the factory settings but seems like it does use the DVD to recover everything.

Do you know how I can convert and get my gigs back lol man gigs on SSD are so expensive.. I want to use every gig of that SSD

Grab a legal vanilla version from here http://forum.notebookreview.com/win...-digitalriver-windows-7-sp1-13-languages.html

You will need to install drivers and stuff, but they should have given you a disk for that.

oh yea I downloaded this one but when I loaded the system kept crashing :( thats the OEM right? I will try this weekend.. as an update the SSD is really cool I just updated mine to 009 but I have no clue how to use the benchmarking tools since I am a noob lmao

For the heat that was generated in that area.. I can tell that I don't feel any heat but I didn't use the laptop for a while.

As for the slight vibration, its gone now BUT most of the vibration in that area is caused by the fan so I am not sure if people know this.. when the fan kicks in as usual, I get the vibrations again..

That disk is a vanilla install, no OEM stuff on it at all. Oh and when you get up and running, try this site!

Thanks man, I am downloading it again and I will give it a try.. I have noticed that after I took the laptop apart to install the SSD, The touchpad is getting more warm which is weird.. do you think the cables on it might cause this issue since I disconnected them and reconnected them?

I doubt you have all teh drivers installed yet. Once you have, then things should be a bit cooler ( specifically the gpu drivers )

I have installed a fresh copy and activated it, thanks alot man.. this copy is better than Dell's copy.. it showed 119 Gigs free.. instead of 99.. lol .. still I am missing 9 gigs lol

I have updated all the drivers.. the touchpad is still getting warm alittle bit and I have the fan issue.. Dell said they will send someone to replace the FAN and Heat sink next week, I dunno if I should do that but I am really happy with my new SSD , really fast.. from cold boot to windows screen is 12-15 seconds.. amazinggggggggggggg

I really hope you understand the 9GB difference. I explained it before. Ignore this line if you were just mocking HDD manufacturer's for poor advertising.

And yea, the M4 is insanely fast. All SSD's are much better than HDDs, but as someone who owns a Vertex 2 (which I just restored speed on...) and an M4, and has an Intel 320 at work, there is a noticeable difference between the 3 in favor of the M4. But I'd take either (not the V2 due to Sandforce issue) any day.

LOL, oh yea thanks alot, I actually checked the capacity and it showed around 127.. so there is nothing wrong.. I really like it and it got rid of the heating issue on the left side and vibration! that was annoying.. I asked Dell to send me a new hard disk since they will change the fan and heatsink, they offered to send me a Windows 7 Pro DVD and all the softwares that came with the laptop.. weird but I hope they send a good DVD and not the ty DataSafe one :D , thanks again guys

edit: if I place another SSD in a Caddy and use the DVD slot for it, would it function as SATA3 ?

Dell's disc will be a standard OEM Windows 7 disc, no crapware added, maybe a couple basic drivers but that's about it. They help to do a nice clean install.

And no, the ODD is a SATA 2 most likely, the Intel chipset only has 2 SATA 3 ports, and they are usually reserved for HDDs. In the 702x, since it has 2 HDD bays, the ODD is definitely not SATA 3. In the l502x that you have, there is a chance, but the only way to be sure would be to find a SATA speed advisory tool, there are a few floating out there that will list all SATA ports, what device is on which. From there you can tell which are which speed.
