    its me again.

just now service rep fixed the TEAC optical drive issue, dell did sent me a good service rep this time with a new dvd writer. everything went well.

when the service rep disassembled my laptop he found that a locking system which connects the touch buttons is broken, it was broken while manufacturing itself and it was not his fault, so he notified the same issue to the tech support and he called for new motherboard replacement.

he said it works fine tho the locking system has broken he said i need to handle the lid very smoothly if i open it with much wide the touch button connecting to main board thru wires will come out from the socket since the locking system is broken. he said main board needs to be replaced

that time i spoke with customer service and demanded them a new replacement. but they customer service agreed for it, since its the second whole unit replacement. he also told me that i have 2 option which i can go for since he canceled my old order when i returned my old laptop. now i have new order number and new invoice date. now im again in problem,

    1. i can go for new whole system replacement for which i have to wait for around 20 days since this whole week n next week is holiday.

the system replacement provided by dell will be new m1530.

    2. i can cancel and go for refund, which they will be deducting 1800 rupees(40$) for fright handling charges,

now customer service has register my new case and the same rep is handling me the case agian. he issued me an order number. and he also given me time to think and get back to him this friday either i can go for new replacement or refund of money and i can order any other model.

also he said if i have problem again the next time they will provide refund before i ask. since it will be third new replacement.

help me out what i can do, why this time i received a defective main board.

also im thinking to go for refund and switch to HP dv5t model, but im not sure whether it is available in India or not.

im right now confused, please help me what i can do?

shall i go for new replacement they will again issue me new order and the system will be new which will take 20 days around since its holiday.

    or

shall i go for refund and get my money back and buy new any model from dell or HP. ?

please help me, confused again im very sad again.

    Sorry for all your troubles....

Ask for a replacement, since they are ready to send you one... see if "that" replacement is fine...

Or if you are fed up with Dell, go for a refund (since they said they can do that as well) and get some other laptop from a different manufacturer.... I don't know what you will get though.. check out other configurations and such... but do remember, that the service n support from HP for example, is not better than Dell, and AFAIK, even till recently it was pretty worse in fact...

Like Fonduekid said go for Refund and re-order a new XPS or another model ,
Dell service is the best in India , HP you need go after the service centers for the repairs if any .

refund and reordering will be the same as of im sending back this new defective system and getting new system again as a replacement, its doesnt matters coz they have changed my invoice date to 19/09/2008 also i have been issued new order.

wen the service rep damaged my old system dell took back it and canceled my old invoice date and old order number which was 18/07/2008 and said it lapsed as the damage was from their side. so i was given with new invoice date 19/09 and new order number and the system was new too.

but if i cancel this and go for refund, and if i again make new order the configuration will cost me around 5000 rupees extra which i will be shelling out from my pocket. also that will take the same amount of time too since this week is holiday.

so i have decided to send this system back and will be getting new xps model as replacement where they wil be issuing me new invoice date and new order number and the system will be new one again.

    so whats your opinion guys?

getting refund and ordering new will be same as getting new replacement with new order number and new invoice date as they did for my first replacement where in i got upgraded to T8100 processor as against T7250. when i bought my first laptop, as it was not available in stock.
