Well basically I decided to start looking for a laptop for school a bit early as I hear that a lot of the good deals tend to try up around august, right now I'm looking heavily at the Studio 13 laptops (I was looking at the M1330, but I guess Studio 13 is really the better buy). Right now I have a 7% student discount, along with the 24% off coupon... totaling 31% off.

I'm having a hard time believing that between now and then I'll get a better deal. Granted the hardware might be a bit better in a month or so but as I'm selling my desktop it's value will go down as well, so it pretty much evens out in my view.

    Any opinions are appreciated!

This should be in the Studio XPS and XPS forum, by the way.

However, you should detail your configuration - what you're going to get and for how much $. That way we can give you more solid advice as to the real deal you're getting.

One other option that you may want to consider is to visit the Dell Outlet and see if they have any refurb models that you like for even cheaper. But, waiting until the fall is useless. You either need the computer now, so you buy it now, or you can wait, and buy it then.

What's the 24% coupon? I was interested in the xps 13 myself and would totally jump on one if i had that good of a coupon. Or is this a unique coupon that you have from a previous dell purchase?

A few things to look at

What is your primary use for this laptop? Purely for school (taking notes?), or will it involve some form of multimedia work, or will you play some occasional game on it?

The XPS13 has a base weight of 2.2kg, add in the charger, a couple of books and bits and pieces, it can be a bit of a heavy thing. If you're going to carry it around all day, you might want to consider it.

If you're only after something for note taking, perhaps consider a netbook simply for its weight, and long battery life and keep the desktop.
