i'm gonna post this thread in here as well, might get better feedback.... hope the mods dont mind

In vista disk cleanup, my temporary files folder is over 8gb big! i'm a little wary to delete the contents, as there could be something important in there? i can recall reading a thread somewhere where someone deleted the large temp file, and had vista delete alot of their programs.

i've had the laptop for a little less than 2 weeks, and have only installed a small amount of software/games.

well, why don't u go to the dell thread and look through the reformatting thread? reformatting will get rid of any kind of crap sitting in ur dell laptop. it will make ur laptop an actual new laptop.

what exactly are the temp files, and what do they control? I just got my xps 2 days ago as well, so I am not sure what to do about them.

Temp files are normal, yes, they can be frighteningly big, but its normal. Its not bloat, it just comes with whatever you do on the computer. You are free to delete all that. If you want, you can limit the amount of temp files your internet browser generates so it wont grow to 8GB over time.
