Hi there. I bought a external 24" widescreen monitor for my M1530.

I connected it with HDMI but it only let's me select 1440x900, my max resolution.

Why is that? I "can" select 1900x1200 but it doesn't apply.

Are you using an hdmi to dvi to connect it? If your using straight hdmi that may be your problem. I'm using vga right now to connect a 20" at 1680x1050 and my max resolution on the laptop is 1440x900. Why don't you try using vga to connect the monitor and then maybe your problem is not using dvi to hdmi to connect it.

Are you using the nvidia control panel to change the resolution on the second monitor?

I bet you are using "Clone". That will limit your external resolution to your laptop's display resolution.

Just for a quick test. Send the signal only out to your external (FN+F8, should be the last option). And then see how high a resolution you can get. I use a 24" Dell monitor, and can do 1920x1200 no problem.

To get both screens to work, I use Nvidia's "Dual-View" option. Go into Nvidia Control Panal, and under "Setup Multiple Display's" select Dual-View.

The last user nailed it. You are using clone mode. Try extended desktop.
