When using an external monitor such as a large screen LCT HD TV, what is the maximum output resolution you can get and is it via HDMI or VGA?

According to Dell online tech support VGA is a low res output and HDMI is preferred.

According to ATI specs for the video adapter, however, these are the supported resolutions:
"Supporting analog displays connected by VGA at all resolutions up to 2048x1536"
    "HDMI output support
    * Supports all display resolutions up to 1920x1080"

    So, who is right?

The resolutions available vary depending on the output method.. both are correct.

ATI is. If your system has displayport, that interface supports the highest resolution for digital signals at the moment.

Thank you. Not surprised by Dell's inaccurate statement. Just one of many, many... Do they have idle soccer moms acting as their online support? :D
