My friend is about to buy a laptop and i am just considering which grapich card would be better with the heat issues peoblem the 8400GS or the 8600GT?

depends on the make and model
eg m1330 = bad cooling, hence 8400 = much hotter, while m1530 runs okay with both 8400 and 8600
and the exact issue is cooling+heating cycles..... lower temp on this bad cycle would still crap out the graphics card (expanding + contracting on a bad constructed card = easy to crack and the other bad stuff)
look at the thread Forte created somewhere... -

None of these come with the 8600GT, but with the 8400GS as far as I know. -

SNAP! He's right...I wonder if it's listed b/c of a mounting defect, or b/c the 8400GS comes in it as well?
But not all machines with the 8600GT are listed...for instance mine...which is funny b/c the 1510 is listed where the 1500 is not (I can only imagine this is because the 1510 does not come with the 8600GT but the 8400GS)...but then again, at the time you could get the 1500 with an 8400GS...who knows.
Truth be told, if I were you, I'd get a machine with a 9x00 series.
Maybe a stupied quastion but which is worse (by heat issues) 8400GS or the 8600GT?
