Of course, my first question is if there is anything at all you can think of that you did between the time it worked and the time it didn't that could've caused it?

Also, I think you can repair the MD install from the MD disc....wait! Look at this first.

I take it Windows still works? Oh, and call or online chat to Dell about your speaker. :D

Yeah, it's looking like they expect those with newer models just to use the Dell Restore thing....

Is there some sort of an MD repair option when you launch the program in Windows, or from the MD disk? I know I did that at one point, but I forget how, and I don't have it installed anymore. :p

The windows didnt start.....I solved it via windows cd....

Ok for now...I should back up my 100gb data and then start over.......

The md disk doesnt have such option.... It has 3 options.
    1-allocate c:
    2-allocate other3

I'm sorry I make you angry. Are you saying that Windows would not boot up, but you repaired it? You should always have your data backed up. Starting over might not be a bad choice, but, if Media Direct is your only problem spot, it might be worth trying to fix first. What exactly happens when you press the MD button while the computer is off? Do you get the initial screen, but it doesn't actually go into MD? You say the screen is blank. Does the backlight come on, or NOTHING happens? :p

I assume you tried booting from the CD. Have you tried inserting the Media Direct CD while in Windows, and seeing what options you get? I think that may have been where I found the repair option. Also, if you can look at how your partitions are configured, you can confirm that your installation is still there, at least, and also tell what the partition numbers are. If you can find that out, you can make sure the MD button is booting the right partition.

See, your Master Boot Record needs to be configured by Media Direct, as I understand it, and, if it wasn't screwed up before, if you used the Windows CD to repair your installation, it probably fixed the MBR, so you'll need to re-configure it. To do this, you hit Windows Key+R to open the Run dialogue, type 'cmd' to open the Command Prompt, and then use this command:

X is the letter of your CD drive, y is the number of your Windows partition, and z is the number of your MD partition. But that's more complicated, and hopefully you can simply repair your installation, without the manual configuration. :)
