    I have a dell xps m1530 2.44ghz processor and 4gb memory..

i hadn't used the notebook since 10 days and today when i turned it on it took an unusually long time at the start-up screen (which shows the Dell logo and BIOS version) However it started and ran smoothly for a few hours. Then i was playing a game when a blue screen came (Physical memory dump....)
On rebooting, again the start-up screen took a long time and then the following message came and it froze.

"Memory Address Line Failure at xxxxxxxx, read xxxxxxxx expecting xxxxxxxx.
To resolve this issue, try to reseat the memory.
    Decreasing available memory
The amount of system memory has changed......"

I restared but this time it continued after displaying the message. After sometime, it showed an error on blue screen for a few seconds saying "Hard disk error" (cant remember exact words)

Now i am trying to start the system but it still takes time on the start-up screen and then shows the "memory address line failure......." error and gets stuck there.

Any help will be much appreciated..Thanks..

Run diagnostics on the computer, that will diagnose the hard drive, or the memory, and it will tell you which one is failing, to run diagnostics power off the computer, hold down the FN button, press the power button, then release the Fn button. and then come back with the results. Also you can try to swap the memory, try with only one memory in one slot and try to power up the computer, if that does not work, try with the other memory, and swap memories from slots, we might have 3 choices here, motherboard, memory or the hard drive.

like i said earlier, after the start-up screen the error comes an gets stuck there..even in case of the diagnostic boot. So there is no question of memtest because the laptop isnt booting anyhow..

    anyway..thanks...more help would be welcome.

    Hi.

Yeah, you should try swapping the sodimm`s around or just run on 1 as mentioned above.

To see if 1 is faulty.

    Regards

    John.
