So my questions is simple, I have a Dell XPS 1730 with a 500GB main drive in it. I recently procured another 500GB and installed it. I want to set up a mirror raid (raid 1) of my current working drive. Do I have to erase and reinstall everything? When I go through the bios to set up the raid it certainly looks as though I do but I don't feel like that should be the case.

I could understand if I was going for raid 0 but I'm not.

Also, if I do have to erase everything, is it plausible to ghost an image of my current drive, set up the raid 1 and then blow it back down?

Thanks for your help! I've been looking for days for a solid answer to this.
