    Hey

I want a mobile broadband card in my new XPS M1530. In canada they offer a EVDO telus card. I don't want to deal with telus. I would rather deal with rogers which is the same newtork as AT&T. I am wondering if dells cards are unlocked so I can use rogers sims cards in it. Does anybody know if there unlocked? On the dell site, the HSDPA cards say AT&T...I need to know if this is going to work or not.

    Thanks

I don't know if Dell offers them yet, but Gobi enabled card would be the way to go.

Ya Gobi might be the solution but pricing isn't quoted yet. Hopefully it'll be inexpensive. They are now talking with T-Mobile. Hopefully it'll have access to G3.

I have the Telus card and it works great but a bit pricey ~$80 per month with the system fee and tax included.
Just this week I got the new Rogers Red Rocket Novatel usb modem -- the modem is free on a 12 month contract and the base rate is only $30 per month -- works great and it promises faster speeds than the Telus. Rogers is supposed to go to 7.2 while the Telus is limited to 3.1 -- that may be in the bigger cities but I use mine in more rural settings and I am getting 1.5 on the Rogers system -- faster than Telus in the same locations.
The one advantage Telus has is their customer serivce and support was great while Rogers always has great services/products but hit and miss on the customer service part -- just try to use the Rogers website for roduct support or contact -- pathetic.

There is a slot in he bottom to put the card. You can put it from whom ever you want. Dell does not lock it in any way like you are thinking. So long as you can get the right drivers from your provider, it will work.
