    Captainkasar, I would be very happy if you could find the fan table so we can adjust or control it.

    @Risco
    me too, however I has been having sigtly less time latelly, also I am a little stuck with my current skills at this subject.

    we definitly need more help for this project (Like I said on the another BIOS topic, I am not a BIOS hacker at all, just a noob with patience and luck), and also need a proper BIOS recovery process of course.

    we are flashing everything now just with luck, as far I know we dont have yet any working recovery process for a bad flash/corrupted BIOS.

    keep in mind I had some troubles while testing the modded vbios, glad I had the intel graphics as backup to be able to use the screen, but there will be no backups for other BIOS modules, thats why we also need a propper recovery method before going deeper in the BIOS hacking.

    I love this project so much, but I also dont want to send my laptop to dell just because I flashed a bad BIOS without a recovery process avalible.

    Bios Mods -The Best BIOS Update and Modification Source
    They can probably help. I'd ask but I know even less about the subject. I'm sure that they'd rather see

    "I've had some luck modding the BIOS on the l502x, but only so far as changing gpu voltages. I'd like some help going further with this."

    than

    "Hey I want to change the fans on the l502x. Somebody get on that."

    which was essentially as far as the last l502x thread on that site got.

    thanks for the help nomygod

    well, I already asked for help over there

    this was the first topic
    Dell XPS 15 L502X unlock
    It basically was just a request to mod the bios, but since no one moved the subject I took the iniciative creating this topic , wich was just a test log, posting the results I got by using tools, testing stuff ...

    then I also moved to this topic wich seemed to be the start of the tiano securecore bios hacking, I managed to get the help and required info to mod the vbioses.

    the subject is a little quiet right now but I hope it will become active when ahmed (one of the guys from the bios-mods site) get some free time.

    you can try some tweaks frecuently discussed at this forum.

    * remove the dust filter
    * repaste
    * disable turboboost when not needed

    me and a lot of L502X users done those mods with nice results.

    undervolted GPU bioses may also help a little since the GPU and CPU share the same heatsink ^^

    Thank you for the tips ^^ I'll try it

    I just have one doubt: how do I disable turboboost?

    Thanks

    Yeah, there is that option, but even when I put it like 70% or 99%, it stays the same way...that's weird

    Hi, i found this thread late last year and was extremely convinced to try it. I was too afraid to mess with my laptops settings though so i decided not too. My problem is with my gpu which I'm sure your modified bios can fix i have the GT525M and have it underclocked at 520 for the core clock and 840 on the memory clock. This has relieved my of my gpu overheating problems until recently. I have started using the laptop much more now and after several hours of watching tv shows/play games on medium to low settings i overheat, my screen freezes and i get a buzzing noise from the speakers. I am forced to hard power off my laptop every time. I am wondering if and what will help my situation and if i can modify fan speeds inside the laptop with your bios. Also i already have a very good laptop cooling pad which apparently does help but not as much as I'd like it too -.-

    Thanks,

    Al

    Also forgot to add if i should try this or attempt to call dell and have them replace my mobo/gpu(Most likely not the best idea)

    if u also have a L502X.

    try clicking at the topic from my signature, the one with the bios downloads, and download the A12 0.85v/0.85v for the 525m if posible the v5 version of the mod , since it include many other interesting features.

    doing hardware mods like Repaste, clean the heatsink and fan, and remove the dust filters is also recomended to improve the temps ^^

    Thank you sir, i have attempted to clean the dust inside my laptop before by opening it and using compressed air but im not too experienced with the insides of laptops so replacing the paste will be difficult however I will look into it and definitely download your program, Thanks :D I'm glad someone stepped up and decided to create something that will help with all of these problems. If you dont mind id like to keep you up to date on how my issues are going.

    Again Thanks Alot :)

    you have nothing to do after install the bios ;)

    it reduce GPU voltage while gamming, so temps should be cooler.

    if you are not satisfected with the bios, you can try the 0.83v/0.83v one but chanced it get unstable while overclocking are higher.

    also feel free to do the hardware mods mentionated before, combinating custom bios + hardware mods make the temperature way cooler.

    Hi, guys I'm using moded bios and it's works fine, except when I change to RAID, NO HDD found in BIOS, please help!!!!

    I'm think I tried all options in BIOS to make it work and it's not working, but as soon as I change back to AHCI all HDD found and works fine, ATA also works fine, but not RAID, my goal is to activate intel smart response, replacing dvd bay with small 32GB ssd. One of the requirements to achieve it, is to turn the RAID ON.

    BIOS I USE:
    Custom voltage moded A12 bios mod for gt540m with advanced menus for L502X DOWNLOAD from mediafire /// MIRROR by ximinez
    MD5 checksum: A0DAB7E7FB91BA9E2CD64C3E76D048F3
    mod version: version 6
    BIOS version used: A12
    this bios mod has been tested by guessyet
    2D PROFILE: 0.83v
    3D PROFILE: 0.85v
    notes: Voltage modded A12 BIOS for gt540m with a nice set of extra options,plus native speedstep and updated CPU microcode,intel vbios update to v2137, sleep FIX for OSX,computrace unlock ,serial tag changer and RAID, handle the new options carefully!Recomended for GT540M users!
