Im in the process of buying a monitor for my laptop and would would like some help in clarifying some things that arent quite clear for me.

First off i want to be able to play Bluray movies 1080p and do some light gaming on them so the picture quality in terms of resolution is key for me. Heres the problem: My 1645 has a max res of 1600x900 (16:9) scale, that can obviously output 900p. Ive seen people game on monitors from a laptop with a different(smaller) resolution that have been able to force the video card to support higher resolutions so i wanted to do the same but for movies as well. So my questions are:

    1. Would the scale of the monitor matter or help in any way? In other words would the 24 inch suit my goals better b/c it has a 16:9 aspect ratio?

    2. What is the best possible solution for what i want to be able to do realistically?

    24 Inch 16:9 1920x1200

Both the monitors you've listed are 16:10.

Both will be fine, The 1645 can handle 1920 x 1200 resolution on an external monitor, blurays will play fine and games will be able to be play with even that extra bit of resolution but it might be taxing on some games to play at full resolution, (no different than with no monitor)
