    Dell XPS M1210

Okay, perfectly working laptop, then I dropped it while it was off. Gave me the "could not find boot device" every once in awhile, then finally it just stopped booting all together and constantly gave me that error message.

I bought an external hdd enclosure to check my hard drive. I connect it to my computer and made sure that the usb connections were secure, and it read the hard drive. But it would disconnect from my computer and reconnect to my computer every now and then, so I'm guessing thats what happens when a hard drive is damaged.

I got my laptop to boot from the external enclosure(with no hard drive in the laptop slot), but then the "broken" hard drive gets me to the windows xp screen, and then I get the blue screen saying to check my hard drive. So at this point I'm guessing that it's just the hard drive.

So we try to reboot, reformat(whatever it's called) the broken hard drive thinking thats all it might need. But then we notice that the cd drive is broken. We tried it in another laptop and it worked. We went and disassembled the laptop via a guide on ahwee when I googled how to disassemble dell m1210.

Got it back together, and now I get the message invalid configuration information - please check setup or something.

I restarted and continue to press f2-setup and f12-boot menu, but it doesn't allow me to go and goes straight to the invalid configuration screen.

The CMOS battery is indeed hooked up.
