My "new" replacement 1530

So after having my 1530 for 23 days the HD crashed... so 9hrs later i finnaly got dell to agree to replace my laptop instead of just sending me a new HD... I had no idea these machines had such bad reputation until now... sucks!

Anyways... this is my new system... can someone explain to me the hole "Centrino" thing if im getting a Core 2 duo processor... im lost...

How did you get a new laptop if only the HD died?

Centrino is the Intel package of the Santa Rosa chipset, Core 2 Duo processor, and Intel wireless.

 

CEntrino = brand name for a C2Duo + Intel Wireless Card + Intel motherboard(santa rosa)

i would NOT get a replacement... most replacements are refurbs

 

I agree, I would HOPE they only sent me the hard drive.

I wouldn't be worried about it. You are more likely to hear about the few problems than all the good notebooks delivered. Dell delivered over 5 million notebooks in Q2 so a few bad ones are going to make it through. Just know you have 21 days to return if it you aren't satisfied.

 

when doing the troubleshooting with Dell the dvd drive stoppped working as well... since no further trobleshooting was possible the ended up "exchanging" my laptop. Well see when it gets here if it is a refub or "new"... more to follow

 

how can they give you a refurbed unit and not tell you so? they are required by law to tell the customer a unit is refurbed. mine was replaced in 4 days and to the best of my knowledge no where does it say refurbed. so i'd say it's a new one.

You have to specifically request for a brand new replacement. The way to tell is to see if there is a colored sticker on the box of your replacement. If there is a sticker of any color, it is a refurb. Send it back, demand for brand new replacement. Thankfully the replacement that I requested was in fact brand new and everything is literally perfect, and still is.
