Hey guys due to throtteling I got my 802QM replaced and my heatsink.

After restarting I saw it was an i920XM!!!!!!!!!

Jesus dell lol. There was also a lot of dust in the heatsink so i hope this improves my temps.

But what about the CPU, wont the i920XM will make things a lot hotter?

Wow that is amazing. You now have the 2nd fastest mobile CPU ever :)

Yeah, you better get a cooler, that is a furnace in there.

You're better off exchanging it. Not even the 130w adapter can handle that cpu. Your system is bound to throttle like there's no tomorrow.

could possibly work out a trade for my 840qm? if not i understand, i don't know if i'd be inclined to sell that beast either. it's a shame they didn't offer it in anything but the AW and Precision line :mad2:

Not gonna lie, if I go that I would sell it in a heartbeat. While yes it is great I know the value between that and say and 8XX or 7XX series isn't going to effect what I use the laptop for enough to make a difference

ok, lets say i sell it, replace it with a 820qm or so. and half a year later my laptop crashes, i need a replacement etc. wouldnt dell check the inside parts of the laptop and give me trouble?

And honestly, for howmcuh should i sell it for?

I couldn't tell you for sure, but i doubt they're even aware that the tech put a 920xm in your laptop seeing as how it's not an "authorized" part to purchase. so it would be easy to say they put a diff cpu like an 820/840 and say that's what he replaced it with.

if anything, if you sold it I would get the hard time from dell for having the "unauthorized" part in my laptop... so i would be chancing against my warranty depending on any future problems.

PM me if you want to discuss more.

Just let me know whenever, I've taken my laptop's apart plenty, already took out my bluray drive for more storage (in sig), however I haven't actually taken the cpu out. I imagine as long as you/I read the service manual and use a bit of caution it wouldn't be that big of a deal.

As far as cost goes, I could offer my month old 840qm plus $$, as far as the plus $$ goes, PM what you think a fair offer would be. I've seen 840's going for $600-700 and 920's for 700-800. So shoot me what you think is agree-able. Or if you want to keep that's your choice and i'd respect that as well. My 840's not a slow dog by any means. ;)

Ok, let me think about it. Since im scared that the dell technician has registered teh cpu he exchanged. they usually do that with any component.

This is what anodize said in the Throtteling thread. What do u guys suggest? selling the 920xm? get a 720qm or 820qm instead and tell dell it throttles and let them take away the 920xm?

I mean I doubt they woudl exchange the cpu again. Next thing I guess would be the mainboard. Thats why im asking, do you guys think the 5730 would make a big difference in throtteling with my configuration?

    My second question:
Is this throtteling? Im asking since Fifa 2011 runs smooth with 30-60 frames/s and then 2-3 seconds it lags, stutters but framerate doesnt seem to drop and then again its smooth.
Pro evolution Soccer though runs just fine with same settings: 1920x1080 highest details.
