    Hello,

I'm not technically gifted with regard to laptops so please excuse my ignorance.

This is drive name: mat s h it a bd-re uj-220 ata device

I originally had my blu-ray drive working fine and was able to play bd/dvd and install from cd-rom.

However the drive doesn't even appear as a drive anymore in Windows Explorer and doesn't play or install anything.

The message in Device Manager Properties for the drive (which has an exclamation mark on it) says:

"Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)

Click 'Check for solutions' to send data about this device to Microsoft and to see if there is a solution available."

No solutions appear. I have clicked on "Update Driver" which comes back with the message that the driver installed is the most up to date.

What the heck do I need to do?

    Hope you can help. Regards.

No mate. The laptop was bought of ebay as a re-conditioned with 3 month warranty which is out now.

    Any ideas?

Delete the drive from device manager and see if it is detected properly.

So, change the view to 'devices by connection' and delete the drive and the thing one level above it if there is nothing else connected to it.

Restart the computer, and it should be detected.

This works for my DVD-RW drive, so hopefully it'll work for a Blu-ray drive as well.

Many thanks my friend. The above worked perfectly. I'm off to watch Casino Royale in HD on my lovely 17" laptop screen.

    Thanks again.
