I heard this never worked. And when I got my XPS 1640, lo behold, an empty download screen!

I'm basically looking for Dell DataSafe Local and FastAccess Facial Recognition (yeah, I know someone uploaded it...).
Anyone?
Thanks,
~Ibrahim~

I've never used it since I don't have a newer Dell laptop, but every time I've read of someone having a problem with the website, someone says you have to use Internet Explorer to get it to work. If IE doesn't work and you're using IE8, then try it with compatibility mode. That's all I can tell ya.
Haha I just tried it with my Inspiron E1705, and got a "service tag not supported" message. -
It works with IE8 and compat mode on. That's the only way I got it to work.
-
Yeah, I've tried IE8 and IE8 w/compatibility view. Nada.
Clicking the "Download Now" button just refreshes the page...

EDIT: well, truth be told, I never tried Compatibility Mode while I actually had the laptop (it's been returned), but I did try IE8. Maybe I can try again when my new one ships out.
But good news it actually works! And on an SXPS 13, at that!If anyone else wants to confirm, that'd be cool.
-
just tried it on my SXPS 13 using IE in compatibility mode. (i was hoping i would find something (else) to help with my ethernet connection-not-working-after-waking-from-sleep-mode. i installed the Win 7 Dell drivers, but no luck). so, i'm confirming the My Downloads works with IE 8.
-
It worked for me, I think it can depend on when your computer was made and shipped, and how I don't know.

Oh yeah, I use IE8 with it too, no problems
-
As a matter of fact, i went there last night to download the latest software and drivers and had no problems whatsoever. Granted, I did it with Firefox but I also did it at one point with IE8 as well.
-
OK, so there is hope.
Thanks, guys, I appreciate it!
Maybe it was just me, then, that had trouble with it, lol!

I think that one can be downloaded via Dell's Support Site. I think.
Anyone ever seen Dell DataSafe Local (NOT online) downloadable?

I struggled with the my Dell Download last night. Finally got it to work but I was not happy when my downloads didn't include the Roxio Studio 10 which came factory installed Anyone know if it is on the factory image and if I can access it w/o doing a complete restore? -
You can also download applications through:
dell.com> My account (log in)>Support for my system (registered one)>Drivers and Download
EDIT: I've got the Facial Regnizition Software downloaded, I could find a way to send it to you ikjadoon -
I'm thinking about calling up Dell later on and just requesting discs for them. I deserve to have hard copies of them anyway with my order -

lol, nice. I'm wondering if I should ask them to put the discs in my order.
Haha, thanks Martin, I appreciate it. I don't think I will need it as if My Dell Downloads works with my new laptop, I should have it.

Yes why not you "technically" bought them just tell them its not working or you dont see all your software then they will send it to you that is what i did
-
If you get the Win7 Upgrade, you'll get the OS and a disc with a ton of applications. The apps seem to cover all the current laptops, and have a new version of the camera app that it comes with. It was 1.2, but now it's 1.4.
-
A disc? From Dell? It includes ALL applications? The ones I care about: Roxio, Facial Recognition, and Dell DataSafe Local.
~Ibrahim~ -
would someone upload that application disc to somewhere?

All other software that came on the machine had it's own CD/DVD package. I'll have to look into this some more. -
