First I have to start off by saying that the 15.4" LED-LCD screen is INCREDIBLE!!!! The main reason I actually went with the LED screen was because my 2.5 year old Toshiba Satellite M45 recently had the CCFL backlight crap out on it, causing me to break the bank to buy this new Dell.

Also, the build quality of this M1530 is so far superior to anything I've used with the only exception of a Mac Book Pro.

So here is basically what I ended up buying:

    M1530:
    -Core 2 Duo T8300 @ 2.4ghz
    -Tuxedo Black
    -4gb DDR2
    -15.4" Truelife LED-LCD w/2mp camera
    -256mb GeForce 8600m GT
-160gb 7200rpm SATA HDD with fall sensor
    -Vista 32-bit home premium
    -8x slot load DVD-RW
    -Finger Scanner
    -Intel 4965AGN Wireless-N mini card
    -Integrated Sound Blaster Audigy
(and a bunch of included software that i mostly will never use)

And whats best was when I ordered it last month, I was able to combine a few coupons to get the whole package for $1275. Retail would have cost me about $1900.

btw... does anyone with this notebook notice the transfer rate across a 100mbps wired home network is kind of slow? It's definitely slower reading/writing than the 100gb 7200rpm western digital hard drive I had in my old Toshiba.

IIRC, it was a 25% coupon along with another 10% off coupon my friend occasionally gets from his work where he is a network admin. Also free shipping.

The original starting price for the notebook when i made the order on May 19th was $999. But all those extras I wanted to have sure did add up.

Yeah, the LED screen is amazing no doubt. I still wish they offered WSXGA with LED.

I'm jealous. I ordered mine just 2 days ago and it's not supposed to even ship till next month due to the "delays" on the 6-cell AND the midnight blue color. I'm hoping they will quicken the process though...

I get the heat every once and while, but it is a normal thing. There is no way to get past the hard drive heating it a bit, with the material there being so thin.

Just fyi mine doesnt get hot near the left armrest. It is warm, but just enough so i can feel it is slightly warm and playing assasins creed and call of duty does not make it any warmer.

i too think that is just typical...........

and trust me, it's really just warm comparred to some other bands

i got the 9 cell battery and it elevates the back and helps quite a bit.....

Mine gets warm on the left armrest due to the way they mounted the hard drive inside the case. And since I opted for the 7200rpm drive instead of the 5400rpm variety, the heat is even higher.

I can't wait till solid state hard drives come down in price, so i can put one into my Dell.

Nope. My current router is non-gigabit and only has wireless g. I'm going to buy a Linksys wireless N router with gigabit in a week or so.

I was told the main reason for all the delays are the 6-cell batteries. I ordered this notebook on May 19th, and it arrived only two days ago.
