After having had it for 2 days now I feel as though I know my way around it enough to give an informed review.

    Design:

Firstly, the design of it is fantastic. The keyboard is very sturdy with no flex really at all that I can feel and the keys themselves are very smooth and silky to type on. The touch media buttons are nicely placed and are really easy to use. They add a nice swankiness to the notebook I think. The color contrast between the black and the brushed metallic silver is really fantastic and makes the notebook look like it costs much more. The build is very solid and sturdy. The screen on it is beautiful despite mine being a grainy Samsung.

    Performance:

The computer performs just about flawlessly. The fans rarely come on and when they do it is for a short burst and they are quiet. The laptop has a very smooth feel to it and gets everything I need to get done done and very well at that. The computer rarely ever slows down even whilst playing a game and doing stuff in the background. Great performance from this computer and is well within what I wanted.

    Features:

The webcam on this works well, I am currently in the midst of recording a Youtube review using it and everything is progressing along nicely. The slot loading media drive is quiet and cool to use. The media card reader works as it should and all is well. The media remote is easy to set up and works immediately with Media Direct.

    Dislikes:

There is an error in the computer where while playing music or watching a video if you eject a disk, the music or video will stutter until the disks pop out. My grainy display but it isn't bad enough for me to want to trade it in as it looks fantastic either way. Thats really about it for dislikes.

    Vista thoughts:

I actually quite enjoy it. If anything it is a more streamlined and more fun to use version of XP. It is smooth fast and easy to use, at least for me. Any of you doubting Vista I would imagine will be pleasantly surprised at how nice it really is.

    Overall:

I love this laptop and wouldn't trade it for anything. It was an obsession of mine for about a week and I followed it through every step it took. You will not be disappointed with this notebook and I completely recommend it to everyone.

Thank you too all that recommended or helped in my purchase and followed me through this process. It is appreciated! Enjoy!

are you sure 'the fans rarely come on'? vostro 1400's fan keeps running even when CPU is idle...

Ya, my fans right now are at 0 RPM. When they do come on it's usually to about 2k RPM or so unless I'm gaming.
