This is starting to infuriate me. I've had this $2000 laptop for under a month and already it will not function the way it is supposed to. I spent all yesterday evening trying everything I could to get the screen to change brightness but it simply refuses. I try it plugged in, or unplugged, no change whatsoever. I use the Fn + arrow keys (up and down) to try to change it. The little onscreen display pops up from the Quickset drivers showing that it is supposed to be adjusting but there is no change to the screen brightness at all.

I updated my BIOS to A05, I uninstalled ATI drivers, installed the latest ATI drivers from the Dell website, I updated audio drivers, I uninstalled Quickset drivers and installed the newest quickset drivers, no change nothing. NOTHING IS WORKING. Restarting my computer, doing everything I can think of. I am pissed off because this is a $2000 computer and all I wanted is something that functions properly, that's it. I am about ready to get on the phone and curse out Dell for this bullsh**. I have the RGB-LED screen btw, piece of crap. SXPS 1647.

Yeah it looks like a hardware problem... just a statistical fact I guess... someone will have that defective hardware part. Dell is quite good with its onsite service though...

Or try start>control panel> windows mobility centre

I tried that too. I was pretty mad when I wrote that but I'll give Dell a call and see if I can get onsite service at my University. Update coming soon.

If you have Onsite..they should be able to come to your home or place of employment for the repair. And, I would state your Uni' would be your extended home (and place of employment). ;)

    Good luck~!
