    My Studio XPS 1640 won't start,

    My studio XPS 1640 doesn't turn on. I can only see four touch buttons lit and everything else is off. The only way to turn them off is by removing the battery and the moment I put it back they turn back on. Using the AC adapter is the same, they remain on until I disconnect them. I attach a picture to show what I mean.

    Sounds like your motherboard fried... when those things die freaky things can start happening. Just call Dell about it, if your warranty's still in-tact you should have a tech at your house within 2 days to do the repair.

    Same here, i smell fried chicken! better call dell about it if you dont want to buy a new motherboard yourself :) (if your still under warranty then better yet, cause it wont cost you a thing!)

    And dont worry about the data in your HD, i bet its still intact.
