I will be receiving my Studio XPS 1647 in just a matter of days. I've bought all of my accessories and now I would to prep for my system. For the 1647 owners. What are some recommendations you would have for me once I receive the system? I already plan on installing a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit (that's if Dell gives me the backup drivers and utlilities discs). But after that so far i've been told to:
1.) Call for an upgrade to the 130W AC Adapter.
2.) Enable Turbo Boost Mode since Dell disables it in the factory.
What else should I be doing once received?
Thanks for the help.

Where did you read that Dell disables Turbo Boost?
-
I just read it was disabled by default.
-
Yeah it is on all the 1647's. Just download it from the Dell drivers site along with all the other goodies!
It's not disabled on the 1645's though. -
That sucks. What was Dell trying to accomplish by disabling one of the most important features of the i5/7 processors? Is this related to the power/heat/throttling issue?
-
It's not like it was disabled permanently or anything. Just we have to install it ourselves. A little inconvenient sure but it's something to do at least!

I thoght Dell automatically started shipping units with the 130W power brick? I just got my XPS Studio 1645 and don't know much about what I need to do out of the box either
