I have the Intel Centrino n6200 wifi card in my SXPS1647 and my wireless router is a D-Link WBR1310. I can see the network as well as roughly 10 others in my neighbourhood but it won't let me connect to my own network. It'll try for a min then say "Failed to connect" or whatever. Do I need to update my drivers on my laptop or do I need to update the FW on the router? It doesn't sound like a hardware issue.

I have that problem when too many peripherals are plugged in. I have to turn my brightness down and unplug my mouse, headset and iphone.

Weird. Nothing is plugged in but I'll try the brightness thing when I get home from work.

I updated the drivers, nothing changed. My router has WEP security by the way. I'm guessing it's my ancient router. New firmware hasn't been released since like 2007 so I don't know if it's a compatibility thing or something. I also haven't been able to test other routers since I haven't brought my laptop anywhere else yet. This is lame.

First try changing your router to "Open" (No Authentication) using no key and try connecting.
If it works change your router back to a security type (WPA2-personal w/AES is best) and enter a new security key on the router and do a hard reboot of the router. Match these settings in your wireless connection settings on your PC and see if it works. You should also check your N6200 settings (through the device manager) in the advanced tab to disable 820.11n mode if you do not have or use it.

Edit: use the highest security you have IE WEP WPA WPA2

Device manager didn't do anything. I'll look into the other thing later I guess.

I am having a problem with the Intel My Wifi utility as well.

I am trying to connect my Xbox 360, through my Dell Inspiron.

I can see the network created by the notebook, and I can go through all the steps of connecting to it.

But when I finish entering the password, it will say acquiring IP address, and then simply disconnect.

I can't get it to completely connect or stay connected.

    And ideas??

did you try disabling wireless security? I was having the same issue (i have an intel 6250) and it turned out to be the wireless security. I had WPA2 with a TKIP key and had to change it to AES in order for my laptop to be able to connect to it. If you can connect with no security, try a different security
